It is with a mix of pride and sadness that we announce the National Drumline Camp will not be taking place in 2025, and for the foreseeable future.
Since its inception in 2012, the National Drumline Camp has been a cornerstone of the Australian drumline community, leaving an indelible mark on the musical landscape of our country.
Over the past 13 years, we have been lucky to: work with a truly incredible roster of educators; introduced nearly 1,000 musicians to the world of drumline; expanded the event to run concurrently in 3 states across Australia to help musicians from all over the country experience this incredible art form.
These achievements stand as a testament to the passion and dedication of everyone involved – from the organisers and instructors to the enthusiastic participants who made each camp a unique and memorable experience.
While the National Drumline Camp has been an incredible journey, the immense effort required to maintain its high standards has led us to this crossroads. For D², this event has always been an investment of love in the drumline community. However, the time has come to bring this chapter to a close.
Campbell Phillips, Founder and Managing Director of D² and Lead Instructor at the National Drumline Camp, shared his thoughts:
“I have given so much of myself to this event over the years, and everything I have given I have gotten back from the incredible campers, instructors, and experiences at the camp. I am so proud of what we have achieved and have absolutely loved working with every single person at the National Drumline Camp.
I would like to thank everyone who has been involved from the bottom of my heart and I hope we continue to see the impact of the National Drumline Camp on the Australian drumline community into the future.”
We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has helped make the National Drumline Camp what it is since 2012. Special recognition goes to the behind-the-scenes supporters who tirelessly worked to put the event together – you all know who you are!
Thanks also to our world-class international instructors for travelling halfway around the world to share their incredible knowledge and experience with the Australian Drumline Community:
- Scott Johnson (2013)
- Ralph Nader (2014, 2018, 2022, 2023, 2024)
- Harvey Thompson (2016)
- Chelsea Levine (2022, 2023, 2024)
While the National Drumline Camp may be ending, its impact on the Australian drumline community will continue to resonate for years to come. We encourage all past participants to carry forward the skills, friendships, and passion for music that were cultivated during their time at the camp.
